First Day of Third Grade

My daughter's off to school today. It's the first day of third grade.

I am not ready to be back at school. I don't want to do homework again. Homework is the time of wrestling your kid into the chair while attempting to be less interesting than the homework.

I'm not one of those parents that do the homework for the kid. She does as well as she can and we check it over to see that it's right, but we don't do it for her. I think it's very important for kids to go through the processes themselves. That's how they learn and become competent.

It's all bittersweet.

I want my summer vacation back.
