I salute those we have lost in a most worthy endeavor. Perhaps THE most worthy endeavor. In the space program, despite its shortcomings, my pride really did rest with my nation. It still does.

I was in Best Buy near the TV aisle when I heard the news on the TV.

Opportunity comes from misfortune. We know that we have needed a replacement orbiter for years. The current fleet is aging and is now permanently suspect. If we are to continue manned space flight, which I think is a given, we must finally pony up the money and the political will to fund a next generation orbiter.
