Ginger Bread Houses

The weekend began on Friday with pho. For some strange reason, the pho place was full. I guess lots of other folks wanted lighter fare after Thanksgiving.

I also went out and bought new wireless phones on Friday. I walked into a store on Black Friday and bought something at full price. Go me!

On Saturday, we rolled out the piece of the gingerbread houses, then baked them. That was a big to-do.

On Sunday night, we assembled the house. One whole pastry cone went to Hers Truly, as she would let no one else use it. Fortunately, I had learned how to make pastry cones from the cake videos we watched, so I made my own. The houses got assembled.  Joy did the stuff that looks haphazard, I made the stuff that looks cool, and Jenny made the stuff that looks brilliant. Jenny made furniture for the inside: cabinets, a table, and a tree with presents. She rocked. I did the chimney, the roof, the bushes, and the window boxes.

We did have some drama, as the roof sagged under its own weight. One cardboard tube later, along with a pretzel stick, and we had that roof supported.
