Novella in Review

Here's a review of the novella for this year.

Draft 1: 13,895 words
Draft 2: 18,611 words
Draft 3: 18,310 words
Draft 4: 17,359 words (significantly incomplete)
Graveyard: 30,256

Add them up, and that's a whole lotta words.

Just adding Draft 4 and the graveyard gets me 47k words. That's a novel, folks. A rough add up puts me at 96k words. I figure there was some reuse, so let's put the final word count for this year at 65k words.

That's 65k words written in 1/2-hour segments over this year, most of them written between 6:30-7:00am.

I can also say, with pride, that this is the best writing work that I have ever done, mostly because I have held a high bar to myself, then raised that bar ever higher.

Draft 4 continues into a realm so different than the previous three drafts that I have essentially started a new project.
