Which Direction

So there I was, lost in a blinding rainstorm, when an old man wanders up to me. "You can be saved, son," he said in a dreary and wet voice, "But you must sacrifice your pride and ten dollars. Pay up for be forever damned." As it turned out, I only had a twenty and he didn't give change. So that's my story of how I came to journaling here, and I am sticking to it.

Okay, I'm a liar. I'm here because my friend peer-pressured me into doing this. Okay, one friend, Barb, she peer pressured me. Not very hard, and without any enthusiam, really, but she did it. It's her fault.

I'd give you the short and skinny on who I am and what I am about, but that won't do you any good. I will have to write, and you will need to read, and maybe between here and there, we'll come to some sort of understanding. Maybe you'll think that I have a boring and uninteristing life (which it is), or maybe you'll think I live a terribly interesting life (which means that my uninteresting life is more interesting than your uninteresting life, poor thing.) Or just maybe, we'll make friends or something.

On tonight's agenda: I have another date with a very intelligent woman named Jennifer. She's a sweetheart with a wickedly good sense of humor. This will be date #5, so I suppose that things are going all right.
