I first went to the store armed with my mother-in-law's SSN. That worked great! Well, almost great. They had nothing in stock, and they had worse prices than the on-line store.
I tried setting my password for my account. The site had changed its login routine. I had to get the account unlocked twice before I could even set a password. In the end, a phone person set my password manually, then I was able to reset it once I was in.
This time in ordering on-line, it permitted me to indicate where I wanted the phone shipped to and the billing info. (Last time, I could not, and nothing matched the credit card, and I could not purchase a thing.)
New Phone: Ericsson W300i
For another $60, I can match the memory of my iPod Shuffle, use it as an MP3 player, and have a phone to go with it. Not shabby. Well, we'll see how it all comes out.
