The pair came into the building to eager applause. They got quite a warm welcome from the staff. Prince Charles moved forward to shake hands of staff behind the sofas, along with a wave of photographers and cameramen. There were so many photographers that they had handlers who's job it was to control the reporters. Prince Charles took his time, saying something to everyone who he greeted. He had the air of someone who didn't want to be rushed and knew how to take his time. After that, Camilla shook hands, and many more photographs were taken of her greeting the staff. After that, they went up the elevator to 4th floor Office of the Director.
I now understand a bit more about the Royal family. How the people swarm about them. How easily they could let their staffers whisk them about on schedule while they never actually get to enjoy the visit or the people who clap for them.
The other fun thing about Royal visits is the community fun of playing hookey and hanging about. I expected the that President wanted us to give them a warm welcome, so who am I to argue with that? Just doing my job, folks. :P
