Quite honestly, Mike Brown should have never left Washington. He should never have been on the ground. A senior FEMA official should have been leading FEMA in the field, while Brown sorted out senior policies snafu on the back-end. Why Brown went into the field is a mystery to me.
Come on, people, we know how to manage things. Leadership requires DELEGATING.
In fact, I call this a much needed clueful move. FEMA needs its Director right now. It needs him doing Director stuff in Washington from day one. It needs a field person who can direct in the field, and they got a Coast Guard Admiral doing field stuff. Good. We're starting to get an effective model in place.
