Macbeth the Usurper

Easy Weekend

We spent this weekend taking it easy. We did have some things planned, but rain did them in. Good, because I really needed a rest after that walloping cold. The main chore was getting the lawn mowed.

Great thanks to Xpioti for helping my wife Jenny on that disaster that we call a basement. The improvements were noticeable and substantial. Stuff got sorted and dealt with, much of it from before we moved two years ago. My daughter's early childhood history is rolling out the door.

In mild woe, we appear to have some robins nesting in our attic vent. I think that they have wedged themselves between the vent and a slat that holds back the insulation. It's not dire yet, but it could turn annoying. I'm not sure what to do about it. My squishy, animal friendly part doesn't want to deal with it. Personally, I'm hoping that August deals with it. That close to the attic and that space may simply prove too fatal for the birds.

Halfway Through

For two books now, my wife has gotten halfway though an noted that the plot diverted, slowed down, or otherwise became rougher.

So right now, I'm going gangbusters in the first half. I've got the opening act down, along with the secondary act, The third act has trouble. As that is a pivot act, where the situation must change and start us towards the end, being weak on the end should show up, which it does. I put my characters into a spin but they don't come out so well, stumble through act four and muddle through the end.

Given that I pulled and end out of my ass for this draft of All The Saints Are Dead, yeah, I'm having trouble.

Equally interesting is what my wife did not mention. That means that my substantial rearranging and repacing of the early acts worked. Go me.

Anyhow, now that I have some idea of an ending, or even a theme, I think that I know where to go.

My wife also made a few suggestions on "want to see" and "want to see more." She really did poke at this thing a whole lot because she loves me and she wants me writing amazing things, although it's hard to be as amazing as expectations.

Point of Note

I noted that Amazon added 5,000 science fiction and fantasy titles in the last 30 days. Oh freaking God Allmighty. That really brings to home just how much competition is out there.
