Macbeth the Usurper

I voted.

I voted for Same Sex Marriage. For all practical purposes, all families need the same legal tools to exist in today's society. The simplest and most reliable way to do that is to extend the marriage franchise. The dumbest way is to ignore it, and the second dumbest way is to create lots of new laws to create separate institutions, only to see those laws get bogged down in the courts. Creating a whole bunch of new laws isn't conservative. Likewise, ignoring the plights of ordinary families also is not conservative.

If you are going to have values, folks, you get what those values imply. My beef with conservatives these days is that they aren't really conservative at all. They don't follow their own values because they don't like where those values lead them.

I am really amazed at recent elections. The Republicans had the momentum coming out of 2010 and 2012 should have been a cakewalk for them. Instead, they gleefully jumped on every 3rd rail that they could find until they turned their certain victory into a certain defeat. It was only in the last few weeks, with a wholloping coming at them, did the Romney campaign realize that you can't take the center by appealing to the right. They did a fast turn around, and did tighten the race, but not in time.
