Macbeth the Usurper

We went camping over the weekend. We headed up to Catoctin Mountain Park. Apparently, so did the president, as the Secret Service closed off the middle of the park. I guess the wife wanted to see the leaves.

Apart from camping, we took a hike to see Cunningham Falls. Miss Dash really wanted to climb up the falls, and Jen was doubtful, but we endeavored anyway after seeing other folks take kids up, and we had a grand time eating a picnic up on the falls.

The neighboring campers had kids, so Miss Dash had fun introducing herself and playing with everyone.

I did a lousy job building camp fires. It had rained Friday morning, so everything was we. I had hope to take some of our firewood, but with the emerald ash borer being a literal pest, we could not haul firewood up that way. What am I going to do with all this firewood in my back yard? I have no clue.

The nights were cold. We really need both a smaller tent for autumn, and we also needed a featherbed.

We also took a few minutes to do some star gazing. We could see lots of stars. We could barely see the Milky Way. Next summer, we want to go far enough out to actually see the Milky Way.
