Macbeth the Usurper

Weekend

Hers Truly had her birthday this weekend. Two sets of grandparents came over, along with Mark and Izzy.

Jenny gave Hers Truly a fairy dollhouse. Jenny worked like mad on it. Hers Truly literally did not have words to describe her happiness.  She struggled with any words at all. What a job Jenny did.

As of this morning, I've sold two copies of Standing Between Earth and Heaven. Those are actually pretty nice sales for me. :P Even more important, both were at full price. Another eight copies, and I'll get a phat check for $20 from Amazon.
Macbeth the Usurper

On Censorship (or something not like that)

Smashwords has begun pulling erotica due to pressure from Paypal. Quite obviously, to me anyway, this was due to liabilities caused by certain kinds of less-savory erotica. I posted that response to one friend's post, and I got jumped on by folks who thought it was some sort of conspiracy.

Folks, you don't need a conspiracy to explain liability.

Paypal are money-grubbing capitalists. Smashwords are money-grubbing capitalists. They want money. They want to take money. Taking money is how they work.

When money-grubbing capitalists (who we all love) say, "I don't want your money," there are two possible reasons for doing so:

1. Company officers will get arrested for this stuff.
2. The Feds can freeze all our assets, or if we are lucky, hit us with astonishing fines.

That's it. That's all you need to guess.

You are free to write what you write, but don't expect someone else to go to the mat for you. Quite the opposite, unless you are worth a fortune, expect to get dropped the moment that you don't look good.
