Macbeth the Usurper

Log Splitting

I split my first log last night. That was ... ummm ... my four year old told me it wasn't going well. In the end, I did split the log.

God I wish I had a froe. For salvage woodworking, a froe is key. A froe is that tool that helps you split logs into boards.

Now, what kind of wood is it? It's either black locust or black walnut. The difference is important. Walnut is a beautiful wood, easily carved. Locust is unbeliebly durable and nigh unworkable. That would make it great for an outside bench.
