Macbeth the Usurper

The peanut gallery has a question: Dear Blogger, please describe this new job of yours.

OK. It's a statement, not a question.

I'll be helping on a PACS and RIS system.

A PACS system stores medical images. MRIs, CTs, Ultrasound, X-Ray, and other modalities produce DATA. That's the input into the PACS system. Doctors pull up said data and dictate, thus an output to the system, so that other doctors who do not know how to read these modalities can know what is happening to their patients.

Keeping up said system is what I will be doing. Exact duties have yet to be described, although I am reasonably sure that I will be deploying 50 new reading stations, and likely redoing a few servers.

That much said, such a simple system is not as simple as it seems. There is much breakage, and the new Chief wants us to simplify things and generally reduce downtime. That means heap-o-work.

In Two-Year-Olds Today, the girl decided that wearing purple pumps with sequins was the correct fashion statement.

The appropriate way to play with crayons was to peel the paper off each one.

The girl has yet to realize that she can access almost everything once she starts dragging stools around. We are bracing for this.
