Cyrano de Bergerac

I took Jen to see Cyrano last night, over at the University of Maryland. This was her birthday present. She enjoyed the production very much. Much smugness ensued on her part. The play itself was a new translation of the original French work.

The actor who played Cyrano had a great physicality to him. The way that he moved was half the part. Alas, I would love to see a production where all the actors could support Cyrano as well. Some of the parts did not do as well. It's not that they were bad actors, but that they could not ring as their wits clashed as swords.

Do enjoy Cyrano, as you can. I found it a wonderful tale. Though I do find myself going, "If this had been Shakespear, there would have been a scene with the clowns. Cyrano would have dueled them wonderfully over his nose, with both wit and humor."
